The Tiara Stories is a collection of educational and engaging books for children aged 0 to 6 years old (early years’ foundation stage - EYFS). Our main aim is to encourage children to read, learn and have fun, exploring the world around them.
Hi, welcome to The Tiara Stories Collection! I'm Kemi Osinloye, wife, mother and first-time children's author.
I'm blessed with two sons and a delightful daughter called Tiaraolúwa (Tiara for short), the inspiration behind the books. Tiara is an inquisitive and fun-loving child who loves to read, so I wanted to create a collection of books that are reflective of her nature, as well as encourage other children to enjoy reading and exploring the world around them.
Whilst reading to Tiara, I quickly realised that there are a limited number of books with characters that look like her and our family. The name Tiaraolúwa is of Yoruba origin, meaning 'from the body of God'.
Yoruba is a language and tribe which originates from Nigeria, with names with such beautiful meanings, but we don't see them, or names of other African origin represented in many books, to truly celebrate the diverse world that we live in.
I’m a firm believer in the fact that you cannot be what you cannot see, so I created The Tiara Stories Collection with a purpose to increase representation of black characters in children’s books, to celebrate culture and to remind children just like my daughter that the world is for ALL to have fun, learn and explore regardless of your colour, name and cultural background.
In 2020, we saw a lot of turmoil across the globe, but in all things I'm eager to look for a silver lining. I'm grateful that 2020 enabled me to perfect my banana bread making skills, but most of all it gave me the chance to finally put pen to paper to produce this collection of books.
I'm afraid that I can't share the banana bread, but I can share the books.
If you have any questions about my children’s books, please get in touch with me so we can talk.
